A pleasant surprise was lurking in my inbox this weekend. I've been awarded a Rockin' Girl Blogger award by Adria Balgassi of in cinq. If you've not yet participated in this original online community art project you should. I have already submitted my very own cinquain and picture to the project.
For a bit of fun, I'm putting forth a challenge. See if you can spot my cinquain and photo and include the related link to the cinquain post in your comment. You might have to do a bit of digging. The first two people to get it right will receive an original Savvyology - Moments Matter Most reminder band or an original signed art card created by me. I'm even willing to offer both a reminder band and an art card to the winners if they also submit a cinquain to the project and provide me with a link to their related post at in cinq.
Now it's my turn to pass the torch and share my Rockin' Girl Blogger award with five more bloggers:
Mimi Lenox of Mimi Writes The Queen of memes with a pencil skirt & the founder of the Peace Globe movement. Her posts are often humorous and entertaining to read.
Princess Haiku. I love to visit her blog and explore her photographs and writing.
Meleah Rebecca of Momma Mia, Mea Culpa Her witty and humorous posts are fun to read. Don't miss out on reading An Obituary, The Late Mr. Common Sense.
Janine Klain of Jackal . I admire her ability to bare her soul and share her struggles so openly.
Rosemary Nissen-Wade of Haiku on Friday. If you enjoy reading or writing haiku her blog on MySpace is a must see.
Last but not least, I want to thank The Blog Fairy for stopping by and leaving me this ...

Eight Random Facts - Meme
In response to Phil from Thought Sparks nudging me with a meme tag, I'm posting 8 random savvy factoids about myself.
Here are the rules to play by as quoted from Lord Matt:
1. Players start with 8 random facts about themselves.
2. Those who are tagged should post these rules and their 8 random facts.
3. Players should tag 8 other people and notify them they have been tagged.
The 8 Random Savvy Factoids:
1. Before I wear out this skin and these bones of mine, I want to go spelunking.
2. I like to sleep on the left side of the bed at home but when we go away and sleep in hotels or guestrooms of family & friends I always end up sleeping on the right side of the bed.
3. I used to play a version of interactive Scrabble on a dial up BBS (Bulletin Board System) before the World Wide Web became easily accessible.
4. I love the smell of damp cement/concrete and earth that hangs in the air on a hot summer afternoon just after a rain shower. I think this might also tie in to #1. I've been on regular walking cave tours and that damp earth/cave smell is similar.
5. I grew up as a selective vegetarian. When I was a child I had a strong aversion to eating meat and it continued on through most of my adult life. Ironically, my husband & son are meat & potatoes kinda guys. They eat chicken hearts & other bits I won't touch never mind eat. My little sister (she's not really so little anymore) also grew up as a selective vegetarian with an aversion to meat. I think it's in our "genes" because I wasn't around to influence her with my eating habits when she was growing up (we're 16 years apart and I was out on my own by the time she was 3) and our parents eat meat.
6. Here at our house I'm known as Techie Mom. I've refurbished my own computers, set up and maintain our wi-fi network consisting of 4 computers, have a natural ability to troubleshoot software and computer problems (reading the technical manuals & help files is actually interesting to me), and I have an uncanny knack for tripping over "bugs" in software.
7. The first computer I owned was an AST Pentium 90. I think I was one of the silly few who actually bought one. The Pentium 100 came out within months and I still kick myself for not waiting but that old AST was a real workhorse and lasted for 8 years before it finally gave up the ghost. It even continued to work after the battery leaked inside the case. They don't make them like that anymore.
8. I deal cards left-handed and I cut my food left-handed but I'm right-handed when I write. I can switch back and forth between either hand with most things except writing.

Dona Nobis Pacem - Grant Us Peace
Today's post is dedicated to Peace. Not only to world peace but also to finding peace within our own busy, hectic lives.
Within busy lives
And times of suffering
May you find peace
~ Savvyology
Inspired by a bowl of handcrafted marbles & the gentle nudge of someone she loved and lost Mimi, of Mimi Writes, started the Peace Globe Movement. I encourage you to visit her blog and create your own Peace Globe. Get involved and join the movement.
Here is a copy of the letter I wrote to Mimi when I created my peace globe, which I've dedicated to my son.
Hello Mimi,
I'm sending you a copy of the Peace Globe I put on the sidebar of my blog. Your story & the movement are touching. I've placed a photo of my son on mine and a line from a haiku I wrote, which also happens to be part of my blog title. My son was born with a life threatening condition, defied the odds (we were told he had a 5% chance of survival), and is here with us today. In spite of the multiple challenges he lives with, he's a happy guy. Over the years, he has taught me some of the toughest life lessons I've faced and worked through. It's because of him that I learned "moments matter most", to let go of yesterday, and not worry about tomorrow. It seemed most fitting for me to place him and those three words on my Peace Globe.

Favorite Of The Week - You Are Valuable
I stumbled across this inspirational post written by Healer and Author Jennifer McLean on the Big Book of You Blog.
"You are valuable… take that in. You are important, for real. How does that feel inside of you? Do you believe it? If you do then FANTASTIC and acknowledge yourself with large pats on the back for seeing the value that is you."Read the rest here ...
We all need a friendly reminder now and then.

Why Do I Blog? - A Game of Meme Tag
I've been meme tagged by Lord Matt from The fantastic site of Lord Matt Stealing a moment or two, after much procrastination, to respond before heading downstairs to debug, defunk, and revive the downstairs computer. It seems the guys have "broken" their computer. I'm known as Techi-Mom around here. I can flip a grilled cheese, do a load of laundry, and set up a wi-fi network. Yes, it's true. I'm the geek in the family.
Back to the meme at hand ... Why do I blog?
When I started blogging, just about a year ago, in my Northern Ruminations blog over on MySpace I did it to network with other haiku haijin. There was and still is a fairly active group of haiku & poetry bloggers that I hooked into. We tossed haiku back and forth on each other's blogs. Some of us still do. It's a lot of fun to play off of another poet's words and have them do the same in return. As much as I enjoy writing for myself, I get a kick out of writing with another poet from time to time. Some cool pieces have come about from the collaborations.
I created this blog, Moments Matter Most, to continue sharing my haiku & other poetry and to share my digital abstractions. This is more of a professional outlet whereas my MySpace blog is a playground of sorts. It's not as customizable as far as widgets and other gizmos are concerned. Finding the MySpace environment pretty restrictive in that regard. I expect in time I'll end up moving this blog to my own domain to break free of the free blog hosting restrictions altogether.
Getting down to the nitty gritty ...
I blog to express myself, through words & through art.
My turn to tag folks ...
I'm still new around MyBlogLog so I'll extend an invitation to the people who read this post. You know who you are. Consider yourself tagged if you haven't already been. Your turn to explain your desire to blog and then tag five other bloggers.
