Seaside Bound

Things will be quiet around here for the next few days while I escape to the seaside. Finally getting away for a long needed break and will be enjoying myself simply staring at the ocean and doing a lot of nothing. Well, maybe I'll squeeze in a bit of something here and there. I'm taking my camera along to play with. Oh, can't forget husband too. Maybe we'll get to sneak up the coast a bit to the pub with the pool table and have a game or two.

Family Time

Stealing a moment to write a quick post before heading off to sleep. I have house guests arriving later in the day and likely won't have much time to post again until Sunday night. It's a family weekend here. My father-in-law's birthday is on Saturday and husband graduates from his course today. Busy times here in our household.

As they say, no rest for the wicked or the weary. My new love and I will have to put off getting to know each other better until sometime next week. I did get a bit of good news today. The special archival paper was shipped out and should arrive early next week.

A Wristwatch Day & Another Lesson Learned

Yesterday was a live by my wristwatch day thus no creative time for writing or pushing pixels. I’m literally stealing a bit of time now to sit down and write this post before diving into my studies and tackling the list of phone calls to be made to set up various appointments for my son.

On the positive side, I’ve been thinking about topics for future posts to share here on the blog. On the not so positive side, my new love and I haven’t had enough time to get to know each other better. It would be worse if the delivery of archival paper had arrived but it’s still en route. I anticipate it’s arrival sometime next week and am hoping to catch up on all the other tasks on my to do list so I’ll be able to spend some quality time with my Pro 9000.

The issue of time management and my fly by the seat of my pants way of tackling things has been on my mind a lot the past two weeks. I’ve finally given in and will be hiring a bookkeeper to take over the financial reporting for my son’s Microboard. I’ve been doing the work of the treasurer and the secretary for the Non-Profit Society since its creation.

There has always been a bit of an internal tug of war going on inside of me with regard to my creative side and my business side. I believe this is my year to find a viable balance between the two. Realizing that spending hours going over financial transactions and statements isn’t an effective use of my time and that it’s okay to delegate that responsibility to someone else is a big step in the right direction.

Has this been another life lesson about learning to let go? Perhaps, but in this case it’s a calculated and controlled form of letting go. Less stress and paperwork means more creative time. More creative time means a more relaxed and happy me.

Life & Laughter

Today’s post will be short and sweet. I’ve a load of paperwork to get through and trying to balance family, work, creative pursuits, and life in general can get hairy. I try not to get into the nitty gritty details of my life and all it entails when I blog. Far too much back history to explain and my purpose for blogging is to inspire creativity in others and entertain a bit. Give you a glimpse of the mind behind the poetry & art.

Having said all that, I suppose you can’t get an accurate picture of the mind behind the work if I don’t share a bit of my real life goings on now and then. I’ll begin by saying that I have an adolescent son, living at home, with complex special needs that require a lot of support. He has been my life for the past 13 years. My day to day life is a complicated juggling act and sometimes I feel like I’m scrambling to pick up balls that I’ve dropped while trying to keep the rest up in the air. Today is one of those days.
